External Optical Drive

i have a pc without an optical drive.... but i have many cd games that i want to play.... will an external optical drive work as good as an internal one?

In most cases, yes. The transfer rate on optical drives is pretty low. USB2 is enough for an optical drive. USB3 may provide enough power that you don't need any extra power.
