Yes, if your BIOS allows you to boot from an external drive. If your BIOS doesn't allow the direct selection of the boot device, you'll have to change the first boot device to the external ODD in the BIOS, then save and exit. Hint: Be sure your external drive is attached when you power-on the system, otherwise the BIOS will not find it.
