External Samsung Pro SSD 2TB or Samsung Portable SSD T3 2TB

Hi everyone, I'm looking at purchasing the Samsung Pro 850 SSD (2TB) for external use and future internal use - just wondering if it runs slower when installed in an external drive? Initially I had looked at the Samsung Portable SSD T3 (2TB) to back up my critical data however it has the disadvantage of not being able to be installed internally.

Presently I am running a Samsung Pro 850 SSD (1TB) on my Dell Inspiron and will likely leave things this way until I upgrade my laptop - waiting for the next generation of NVIDEA graphics card and Intel processor to be available.

Thoughts?

what type of connection does the external drive have & is it the same as on your laptop?
