Not sure if this is the correct place to ask this since it pertains to my xbox sound. I have an AOC 270LM00004 monitor and when I run the HDMI cable to my monitor, I get sound coming out of the monitor. I also have a set of Logitech Z323 speakers with a 3.5mm cable running from it. When I plug the 3.5mm into the monitor, sound is still playing out of the monitor instead of out of the speakers. The speakers work just fine if I were to do this setup with my PC instead of the XBOX. Any ideas why I can't get the sound to play from the speakers if the source is xbox instead of PC? If not, anyone know what the best setup would be to run 3.5mm to optical cable?

Disregard this. I just switched up my monitors (plugged into my other monitor, that had line out but no internal speakers) and sound is working great from the logitechs.

Are you sure that 3.5mm port isn't an input? My guess is that port is to take sound in from a PC connected via DVI or VGA. If that port is a sound out, then check your Monitor's menus to see if there's some setting you have to enable, or a separate volume meter, etc.

As for hooking up your speakers directly to your Xbox, you can use an optical to analog converter to convert the signal from the optical out to something your speakers can use. If we're talking about an Xbox 360 though, I believe the adapter with the optical output also has a couple of RCA outputs, in which case all you need is an RCA to 3.5mm cable.

edit: lol. nvm. seems you solved this for yourself while I wasn't paying attention :)
