So i have an External Samsung SSD drive.
Just recently i managed to drop this SSD and ever since when i connect my device to the PC it doesn't register. The SSD still works as it has a blue led that lights up when i connect but it just doesn't seem to show up on my PC.

Is there a fix for this? Can i add it manually or take it apart and try access the data on it after that?

It's difficult to say. It depends on the interface of the SSD and if it has a proprietary connector or not. That's why it's best that you turn to the drive manufacturer's customer support for more information regarding that.

I'd still recommend that you try it out with a different computer as well, to see what happens. :)
Hey there, Luke.

Unfortunately even if this is not a mechanical drive, the drop might have damaged it or its enclosure. Try it with a different computer, to see if it's able to recognize it, just in case.

Basically what you are asking might be possible, but it's not really recommended. Basically this voids the warranty of the drive (which you probably have already voided unless it covers damage if you've dropped, which is not very likely) and it could lead to further damaging the device. Other than that, if you decide to remove the external enclosure, you might end up with an SSD with a proprietary connector, which would make it impossible for you to connect it to a computer without its original enclosure, but that depends on the brand and model.

My advice is to get in touch with the SSD manufacturer's customer support, to see what the guys there have to say about this case.

Hope that helps.

I don't really think I have a warranty remaining on the HD.

Is it possible to remove the external enclosure?

If I did remove the external enclosure would I thereafter be able to connect it to my Mobo using a SATA cable?
