External SSD not recognized over USB

I am using a Sata 3 to USB 3.0 adapter to use one of my extra SSDs as an external hard drive. However, it doesn't show up in file explorer for me to be able to see and format. It is showing up in the Device Manager under Disk Drives, and says that the device is working properly.

Is there something I should be doing that I am not. I'm pretty sure that the drive is not dead since it is showing up in the Device Manager.

I would appreciate any suggestions or comments.

OK, just wanted to see if it might have been a funky format, or had come from a Mac. If you select the option to delete the partition, it'll wipe your data. But it should then give you the option of reformatting and setting it up as a new drive.
It is there, but when I right click on the volume, everything is greyed out but Delete Volume, including Open, Explore, and Change Drive Letter and Paths.

Yes that option is greyed out. The only option NOT greyed out is Delete Volume. Sorry for the confusion.

I am currently having to connect this to a laptop, as I haven't finished my newest desktop, so connecting to an actual SATA connection would be a little difficult.

I do not need whatever is already on the drive. If I just Delete Volume on all of the drive's partitions, will that help me or will that wreck the drive?

Deleting the volume allowed me to format. Was just worried that I'd wreck something. Everything is good. Thanks to both of you.
