Question External SSD Occasionally disables internet

I have an external SSD, it has a USB 3.0 connection, I have heard that this can interfere with Wi-Fi, the problem is that it only occasionally does this. Sometimes my Wi-Fi runs perfectly fine and other times it shows all the symptoms mentioned with a USB 3.0 connection. Is there any way to fix this?

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information.

Include external SSD information: make, model, capacity, how full.

Are you using a wireless USB network adapter?

Look in Reliability History: are there any entries that correspond with times that the external SSD is connected to the host computer and wireless/internet is lost?

On any router that has a USB 3.0 port, all of the internal traces for it will be completely covered with aluminum shields. So if you have a leaky USB cable, try wrapping it (and perhaps even the SSD) in foil.

This may not help if the source of the interference is internal and you have a huge case window

My Wi-Fi router doesn't have a USB 3.0 port

Host computer: PSU - make, model, wattage, age, condition?

Other attached USB peripherals?

= = = =

The Samsung 870 SSD being the external SSD - correct?

And it is getting its' power directly from the host computer's USB port versus the SSD being independently powered.

For example, via an independently powered USB hub or perhaps an independently powered SSD enclosure.

My thought being that the intermittent problems may be related to the PSU not being able to keep up with power demands.
