Question External SSD Speed

Is the Samsung t5 even going to be much faster than an external hdd? Won't usb interface knock it so far down that it would barely be faster?

Also, as far as internal ones... someone told me that the 970 evo plus is actually better than the 970 pro in real world situations, despite using TLC instead of MLC. Thoughts? I have a $100 off coupon and trying to decide whether to buy another external ssd or the evo and sell my unopened pro (of elss storage space) etc...

Looked it up and see it's indeed quite a bit faster.

nvme external ones are flat ridiculous in price...

Well, I couldn't decide and wasted my $100 off coupon by not buying anything. I felt like even with that discount they're too expensive. I have an unopened 500gb one, but to get a 2tb one, even after that discount, was going to be $220 after fees. Sure a great price vs. what others buy them for, but that's still a ton to spend on 2tb of space.

Hopefully by the time I can get another feel the price will be down where I get it cheaper still...
