External to internal, should I still use it?

I have a Kingston 500gb external drive. However I think the power line to it was broken. Somewhere on the way connecting the external case to the computer. Through the external case. I fixed it to working order by making the drive internal instead.

Does drives that start out external require more power then a regular one?

No. Internal and external drives are identical except for the external drive case.
