i have a new system that i have hooked up to an external tv through hdmi but on the tv screen it cuts the side off? is there a way to fix that?

I had this too, all I had to do to adjust overscan.

If u use nVidia it is probably something close to it.

oh ok that would work but im using HD 3000 graphics....

intel doesn't have the greatest support for overscan settings.

Supposedly there is a slider in the custom resolutions section. You may want to look there.
