External Usb 3.0 Hard drive not recognized on start up

External Usb 3.0 Hard drive not recognized on start up , but when i plug it out and plug it back in.. it gets detected. Any ideas how to fix this?

Don't plug it in until Windows has started.

well yeah that seems kind of obvious but it would be easier if I could leave the HDD plugged in all the time. As it is kind of a hassle to pull out the usb cable. Thanks for your help.
