I have been trying to get my EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 External Video Adapter to work appropriately. The screen randomly flashes black for a second at random intervals. I've tried many, many things to get it to work (it was working fine for a whole day, at one point, but the next day I started having problems again).

Ways I've troubleshooted:
1. I've tried 3 different USB ports. Two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port.
2. I've tried a separate EVGA UV Plus+ UV39 External Video Adapter that I know is working, and I had the same issue. (I also tried using its cord, in case the cord was the problem.)
3. I've completely wiped/uninstalled the software that comes with the adapter and reinstalled the most current drivers for it.
4. I checked to see if my all my USB port drivers needed updates (I used the search online automatically function). My computer is only a month old and has Win10, so I assume the USB drivers are probably fine.
5. I disabled the option that allows my computer to turn off USB ports to save power.
6. I updated my video card driver. I thought this had fixed the problem, since my screen didn't flash at all for the rest of the day. Unfortunately, the flashing came back the next day.

The only thing I haven't tried is using a different monitor. My current monitor has worked for 9 years straight with no issues up until when I plugged it into the video adapter, so I'm inclined to believe it's a software issue.

My video card is a reference GTX 980ti, so it only has one dual link DVI-I port, which is why I'm trying to use an external display adapter to attach my second monitor (which has a DVI connection).

Should I just try getting a DVI to HDMI connector? It looks like my graphics card can support these display connectors: Dual Link DVI-I, HDMI 2.0, 3x DisplayPort 1.2
