Extra Hard Drive found!

Hi all,

Win 7 PC.

I found an extra hard drive... looks identical to my c: drive... inside my tower case.

After checking, I see that I ordered the machine with two identical drives... I simply forgot this fact after the machine arrived.

But I only see that I have a C: drive (and DVD drives), but nothing else... it's as if the system doesn't mount it.

Now, the Device manager sees two drives...

They are the same Hitachi SCSI drive, one is Bus 0, Target ID 0, and the other is Bus 1, Target ID 1.

The former has 9MB UNallocated space.
The latter has almost .5TB Unallocated... so I guess this one is fully unused.

Why is this not mounted? How can I put this drive to use?

I would like to look on it to be sure there is nothing of value stored on it.... I'd rather not assume it's unused.

Disk Management
Right click on the drive.
Either Assign a drive letter, or Format, than assign a drive letter.

It's possible that the manufacturers put the hard drives together making you only see one. I wouldn't know since I don't know if the other one has anything on it.
