Extra ram or SSD

Hi all! I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop under $1000 and I'm currently deciding between getting a 256 gb ssd and 8 gb ram laptop or a 16 gb ram one with a hdd. What would y'all reccomend? Many thanks!

Personally I suggest the 256gb ssd since the speed between an SSD and HDD is enormous. I only ask if that laptop with 256gb ssd has a secondary hdd storage drive? 8gb ram should be fine.

8gb of ram and SSD every time. You can always shove a larger ram module in after the fact. If 8gbs isn't enough for you. It should be enough for most games. And the SSD oh man so worth it. You could always shove an external HDD on it later if yet downloading videos or somin.
