extra sata ports

i have a mobo that has 2 sata ports but it has 2 other empty spot for sata 3 and 4.can i install 2 sata conectors to use these.and have 4 sata connections

It sounds like your motherboard has 2 SATA ports that are SATA II and 2 that are SATA III.
That's pretty common.
Just make sure that your SSD's are always plugged into SATA III and the other ports can be used however you want.
A hard drive or DVD can't go fast enough to saturate SATA III, but a SSD will.
