Hi,

I have a PC that is fitted with an MSI K7T266 Pro2 motherboard. On the board is
a WinBond W83627HF chip. The chip supports 3 temperature sensors. As far as I
can find out only two Temp.sensors are connected. One located under the CPU (to
report the CPU temperature) and one located on the south-east corner of the VIA
(VT8233) chip (to measure the case temperature). I'd like to use the third
sensor also. Can this be done? Can I buy a sensor (where?) and how do I install
it?

Does anybody have any pointers asto where I might find this info? Searching MSI
website and Winbond website turned up empty.

The chip may support three sensors but the motherboard only supports two.
You'd have to modify the motherboard cutting traces and soldering to surface
mount components. Not something I'd want to do!

Unlikely. They use what they need of the chip's capabilities but there's no
compelling reason for them to add the cost of support circuitry and
connectors for the part they don't.

Yahoo or google for the data sheet. Took 10 seconds.

In theory, you'd have to find a chip exaclt the same as the other
two, and wire it into the spare pin on the winbond chip, the same as
the other two. Practically, it is not worth the risk.
