Hey everyone,

when i'm not playing WoW (World of Warcraft) my CPU temp is idle at around 30-40 degrees C,

however, the second I login to WoW it goes over 100 degrees C, no idea why.

I've tried all the logical stuff (Reapplying thermal paste, cleaning out case etc etc)

but it seems to be just WoW, I can open Battlefield 50 times and my CPU will be fine, but the second I open WoW my CPU just goes to 90-110 degrees C.

Any ideas?

Oh yeah, also my PC is not generating any physical heat, its almost as if Core Temp is lieing to me

If you have temps being read that high you should check to see if the voltage increase matches with a voltmeter. But first, cross reference other software and possibly use different types of sensors if you can't find a voltmeter. It very well might be a glitch.

Do you have any Mods installed in WOW? One might have an issue and is chewing up an entire CPU core and your processor is balancing the heat by moving it from core to core. I can't imagine that CPU temperature with that input voltage.

Have you actually tried touching the heat sink while this is going on, might just have a conflict with WoW and your monitoring software is going nuts. (Fun example, Coretemp on my i3-4130T pegs the CPU and I had to force a reboot the first few times, works fine on my i7-4770k)

could you check your world of warcraft folder , there is a file called "WTF" inside it , open the config.wtf , check your SET maxfps , i recommend limiting it to your average gaming fps , i had an issue with it cause am using a 144hz monitor , and that maxfps was on 0 if am not mistaken , and i was getting over 300 fps , which leads to high cpu temps and crashes the system , i did experience that and hope this small tip helps .
i did limit it to "SET maxfps 144" .

Didn't work :^(

could you tell you pc specs , ingame video setting , if u could send a picture of your setting would be great 😛 . besides how is you CPU temps while playing other games ? could you check using realtemp while gaming .

Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB HDD 7200rpm
8GB Vengeance RAM @ 1333

I can play literally any game and it'll be fine, except WoW.

Everything was working fine before I went on holiday for a week

I would turn off all of your addons first, if temps don't change then you probably have software running behind the scenes and taking over a core like was previously mentioned. Did you download anything after you got back from holiday break? If so I would turn off or uninstall those programs and see if that fixes the issue. And if you made any hardware changes after you got back then mention those as well please.
