It will last you a good four to five years, but unless you have 3+ monitors you won't notice anything out of those 2 690s. Also, X79 setups are more designed for video editing, unless you're a legit professional you should go with a Z77 board. I know you said nit to say this is overkill, but really you're throwing money away needlessly if you just want to game. A Z77 setup will get you the exact same in-game performance.

Ignoring you're comments about saying that this build is over kill. Dude this is massively overkill!

I'm not going to tell you how to spend you're money; if you've got 4500 to spend on a rig then awesome but ask yourself this question. What games/applications will make use of this machine? You going to run multiple instances of a game at the same time? Photoshop whilst playing Cyrsis?

I built a rig a couple of years ago which cost me £1500 with the exclusion of my monitor and it's safe to say that it's still pretty damn awesome. I have no issue's playing whatever game I like or running processor intensive applications.

Food for thought that's all. Treat you're mum to holiday with the left over cash

No, just scrap the X79 setup. If you are buying from cyberpower they should have Z77 computers, a setup with a Gigabyte Z77 UP5 TH, i5 3570k and 2 7970s in crossfire will last you just as long as the rig you showed, and will cost less than half of that. If you only are planning on one monitor, you can just go with a single 7970. You will notice no difference between your overkill setup and what I'm recommending while gaming.

if you are spending this much, it aint even worth it.

build your own, you will spend less and it will perform just about the same.

i7 vs i5 you will not see much performance increase as games barely even use 4 cores.

just get something like i5 3570k, a good cooler(noctua d-14), Gigabyte UP4, a case that looks awesome to you i recommend Cooler Master Storm Styker, get 1 GPU unless you are doing multi monitor gaming i like a 7970 Ghz.

you could just add what ever else you want. this build should last pretty long before you need an upgrade and when you do need an upgrade just add another 7970 GHz which should be priced lower when you need it.

after that when you think your computer is all used up, sell it cheap to a friend or someone and spend that extra money for a new build. you don't seriously need a lot for a "monster build" the people that have "monster builds" either know what they are doing(3/4 way SLI/CFX, Custom water cooling loop) or are just idiots that spent $5000 on a system that you can build for $2000-3000 and say that it is the best in the world

That's almost as much overkill as his original. 16gb ram is useless unless professional. 1200W PSU? What is he doing, 4-way crossfire? No, 850W is more than enough for dual crossfire. The i7 is a waste of money if you want it for gaming, there is no reason to get one. The mobo you suggested is fine, as is the monitor. Case is a preference of the buyer.
