Extremely high CPU usage

Hey everyone,

I was streaming "The Oregon Trail" from 2000, and for some reason, the longer I play, my CPU usage jumps from about 20% to 99% which then freezes my computer. No other games do it and I cannot figure out why. My specs can easily run most modern games so it really puzzles me.

I would guess that you have something intensive running in the background. Something like the Windrows updates or backups or many browser windows. Scroll down the task manager.

What is the top process? I can't read it but it is roughly 98% usage.

That's oregon trail 5 haha. That's why I am so shocked. The next biggest usage of the CPU is task manager at .2%...

A movie should not take that much of your resources (unless the PC is a dozen years old for example).

It's a game not a movie (just informing you incase it makes a difference) It's funny because the requirements from when it came out were "Windows 95 98 Me 2000 XP Vista Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit) Pentium 166MHz+ 100MB of free hard disk space 32MB RAM"

My current specs are

  R9 290 Vapor-X 4gb
  16gb DDR3 ram
  Windows 10 pro

What resolution is that movie are you streaming?

It forces itself into full screen so I have no idea, but if I can play CSGO at 150+ frames, I don't get why it's running so high.

I don't have an answer. Maybe it has malware. That is essentially like a stress test.

Thanks anyways, yeah I don't know why it's like this. Ran malwarebytes and got the game from a trusted source, so I don't think it's malware.
