Extremely high ping constantly for the past month, over 1000

For the past month or so, my ping has been extremely high in games and Discord. I may have a low ping for a few minutes, but it will suddenly spike up to the hundreds, over 1000, and even over 2000. I have noticed it affecting other things on my computer so it is not something to do with the program I notice the ping on. I also have an ethernet connection. I know the problem is not coming from my computer or anything on it. I have a feeling it's my ISP, which is Windstream I have done everything I could with my router and computer, but have no idea what else to do. Any ideas, solutions, or recommendations?

Wow that is not good. I would say call your ISP and see what is going on. What is your plan with windstream? Download and upload speeds?

I'm planning on calling them tomorrow. In my area, Windstream has a monopoly so no other internet providers are in my area so I can't switch. Also, there is only one plan where I live. I get about 750kb/s for download and I'm not sure about upload.

That download speed seems to be your problem. And the thing is whatever your download speed is you maybe get and eigth of. Espeically with that fact that there is always bottlenecks somewhere between say your home and the ISP.

On a good day, my fastest download speed is 750 kb/s. I'm paying for 1.5 megaBITS, so I guess it's alright. But those dumbfucks at Windstream are messing something up, so I'll just have to call them and maybe they'll cooperate.
