around last week my pc randomly dropped to 50fps while gaming and now it is stuck like this. when I first open the game (VALORANT for example) it starts out fine (around 400fps) then drops slowly down to 50 then stays around 40-60 range. I think it might be a problem with my gpu? (im not the most knowledgeable on pc hardware and whatnot) but ive reinstalled drivers, reset the pc, changed video settings, but nothing has worked. my specs are intel i5-11400, 16 Gb ram, geforce 3060

I figured out the problem, the gpu is running at 93dgrs C, and my gpu fan isnt spinning. Although im unsure how to fix this

It would be helpful if you list what case you are using and the exact brand and model of GPU, including memory capacity. As far as the GPU fan not spinning, did you look at it while the PC is under heavy load from the game? I ask because many GPUs for some time now have fans that stay off until the GPU reaches a certain temp like 55 Celsius or so.

I had a Sapphire 7970 that had one of it's two fans go out and found a dual fan set for it on eBay with wires attached for $12 (prices can be easily double that or more now). They were an exact factory match and I managed to install them without taking the shroud off.

You need to be fairly adept at doing such things to try something like this. If not, perhaps a local PC repair shop might do it at a reasonable price if you dicker a bit. MAKE SURE the fans actually aren't running under heavy load first though!

Sometimes fan blades get caught on wires though or just get so much dust and dirt in them they stop running. It is possible to clean and re-lube PC fan bearings, but that is another thing that needs be done right. If something is physically obstructing the fan blades though it may or may not start working again by just clearing the obstruction, or the fan may have burnt itself out because of it.

I cleaned the fan and there seems to be nothing physically obstructing the fan. about how much would it cost to take it to a repair shop if you could guess? the case is the Rosewill Zircon I. heres the link to the gpu I have https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Display...ocphy=9028226&hvtargid=pla-1438266704875&th=1

How old is your GPU? That card should have a 3 year warranty from ASUS. If you've had it less than 3 years going through them would be best, and you might get a brand new GPU.

If it's not under warranty, do you have any friends who have taken the shroud off a GPU before?

eBay happens to have the exact fit fan for cheap.

There are others on eBay selling this fan too, but they're all in China, so it would take a bit longer to get.

Which game? When was it first published? Some older games do this under certain conditions and on some PCs.

Do you have any dust or heat buildup in the case? I blow the dust out of all my PCs once a year in the spring and that reduces dust buildup. Dust buildup seems to reduce the release of heat. If a component gets too hot (usually the CPU) the system might have it run slower. I don't know if some GPUs do that or not right now.
