Hi everyone,

I've recently upgraded my late 2011 A1278 13" Macbook Pro, installing an SSD in the main SATA socket, and the previous HDD in the optical bay.

After making the install, my laptop performance has decreased a lot. I can't even run Safari or Google Chrome without a Youtube video getting lag. I reinstalled OSX twice, but lag continued.

I'll post my EtreCheck report . I know I have a bad battery (I'm waiting the new one I bought), and also recently disabled the Gatekeeper for personal reasons. I'm just wondering why the Kernel panics.

Hope you can help me to fix it, thank you so much.

This explains almost everything. Remove the SSD and get back with the old setup and check. If things are back to normal, there's some issue with your SSD

Hey! Thanks for replying.
Unfortunately I deleted OSX from my HDD so I can't start it from there. Anyways, I tested the SSD in another PC and it works well. Also I switch them, with the SSD in the optical bay and no difference was noticed. I believe it is not the SSD.

Hey! I dont have done anything about the RAM, but ill try tonight when I get home.
Safe mode is extremely slow, even more than normal one. Is this normal?

Safe mode should be faster if the issue is caused by something running in the background.
If the RAM doesn't help, open Activity Monitor and see if there are any processes using a lot of CPU or RAM.
I know for a fact that not having a battery in some models can reduce performance quite a bit, so it is entirely possible that a bad battery might also cause this. I was able to run Geekbench without the battery and then with the battery and without it I had about half the score that was expected for that model.

Okay! I'll try the RAM setting tonight, and tell you later. Probably on the next days, before the new battery arrives, ill test it with a friend's battery, and see what happens.

Thank you so much.

Hey, I test both Ram card and they are all ok. I also disconnect the HDD and try only with the SSD functioning, and it doesnt change anything. The behavior still very slow. I was thinking if it could be the Logic Board? I tested again the SSD with Blackmagic software, and it seems it is ok.

I think the only hope is to wait until new battery and hope it upgrade the performance.
