ExtremeTech's View of Halo/Benchmarking.

A pretty engaging look at Halo's use as a benchmark, good breakdown, and the familiar results;

Seems typical too..the DX 9 performance of the 5600 is unplayable at medium resolutions, I'd hate to see the 5200. This pretty much proves that the 5200 is usless with any DX 9 functions. Of course the 9600 does great, the NV 37 looks decent though, that should've been the 5600.

Hmm. Interesting. My amd/9700p rig is faster than that 3.2/9800p rig. Lowest score I got with latest patch, same drivers as them (3.7's) and maximum detail and sound quality was 53fps. Maybe Halo is slightly optimized for amd cpus because of their lack of mem bandwidth? And me having a 2.4ghz barton is good for this game?

The site didnt mention if they patched Halo or not, if it isnt patched it explains the lower score on the site.

And i thought you figure out Halo is graphic card bounded by now.

From the last page on the review:
CPU speed only makes a small difference here, and then only on the fastest cards

They said themselves that they rec using the latest patch. I would be shocked if they didn't. I'm just trying to understand why I get such a high score compared to systems that should be faster.... Haven't seen many barton cpus used in a review.

Have you read the article or only checked the results?

It's clearly stated that they patched the HALO to 1.02 prior to the bench.

Yep so my rig pwnz a 3.2gig p4 and a 9800pro. Somehow I think if I had a 9800pro in my hands it would be doing much better than that though....
