I have a monitor without a DVI-D input (only DVI-Sub, which is VGA). I don't want to use VGA because the monitor sucks and has display issues with VGA input.

If I get 2 more for Eyefinity, and I convert the DVI-D to HDMI using adapters to connect it to my monitor, will it work?

Summary of connections:

GPU -> miniDP to DP adapter -> active DP to DVI-D adapter -> DVI-D to HDMI adapter -> HDMI cable -> Monitor

Would you expect major issues? Is there a such thing as active DVI-D to HDMI adapter and is it needed?

But if those signals are converted to HDMI, it shouldn't matter, right?

2 monitors = DVI-D to HDMI adapters
1 monitor = miniDP converted all the way to HDMI

That should work, right? (It is a 5970, so it's miniDP not DP)

I know you have three DVI-D's using adapters. I am wondering if this current setup will work as described.

And I don't think ATi gave a real explanation as to why an active adapter is needed.
