Eyefinity setup question

I had some questions on Eyefinity that I couldn't seem to find answers to. Does Eyefinity support 3 2560x1440p monitors (60hz)? Also, is there a way to hook up 3 monitors to Eyefinity without a Displayport, meaning I could use a HDMI slot with a Displayport to HDMI adapter, or am I stuck using a Displayport hub? Also, what is the best Displayport hub that will support this resolution? I've seen a few different ones with very bad reviews (like 2 stars on them). Thanks for any help you guys can offer me.

Solution

You only need one monitor using a displayport from the graphic card. The other monitors can be other inputs like DVI or HDMI.

So I have two Asus Pb278q monitors at the moment, and I'd like to expand it to three eventually. My r9 290x only has 1 dp output and 1 HDMI, it also has 2 dvi outputs. Could you link me the adapters I would need because I have gotten very confused?

If you plan to use only display ports from the graphic card, then yes.

I thought eyefinity could only run from the display ports? The link you gave me was a displayport to HDMI adapter, and since I only have 1 DisplayPort slot that would mean I'd need a hub, unless theres an adapter which will make eyefinity work with a non displayport port on my gpu?
