System Usage: mostly mmorpgs

Hi everyone. I built a pc to play MMOs on a few years back. Recently I tried out eyefinity on the hd 5750 I had and fell in love with it. So I upgraded monitors and GPU. I've played tombRaider and bioshock infinity, with good results. Tho I didnt check to see what kind of FPS I was getting, they where perfectly playable.

I've been playing a ton of FFXIV:ARR an I'm getting 23-25fps in crowded areas, 45-53fps in less crowded areas. It's not killing me to play like that but, I'm looking to upgrade further. I'll get around to doing the whole thing, but I'm looking for advice on what will have the most immediate impact on my FPS. mobo + cpu or crossfire

What I've got right now:
windows 7 64 bit
amd 955 BE cpu oc'd @ 3.6
MSI 790x-G45 mobo
8 gb 1600 ddr3 ram
xfx DD HD 7950 GPU
corsair tx750 PSU
2 150gb HD in raid
3 22" IPS panels in landscape 5824x1080

For the biggest FPS bump right away CPU + MOBO or a 2nd HD 7950? Any cpu mobo suggestions in the $350ish range would be great too. I wouldnt hate going to intel but it seems more expensive. Thanks for your time.

I urge you to use some steps on this. The first step I would take is to OC your CPU. MMOs can use the CPU power in most cases and if that 955 is stock that might be your issue. So grab a good cooler, one that carries over to a new system, and see how the performance improves. If you hit acceptable crowded areas then you just saved a ton of cash. If not, at least your new cooler carries over to your new rig.

This will also tell you what you need. If OCing helps a lot, but not enough, then you know you have a CPU issue and you need a new board and CPU. If OCing doesn't help at all, then you are still GPU bound. (I suspect you are both.) You can buy the new parts according to what you need.

I guess I should have added it is OC to 3.6 with the stock cooler. If I run it at max setting my cpu usage goes way up, but on high(what I've been playing at) it gets up in the 50-75% area. on the bench mark anyway. Maybe that answers my question lol. I wanna do both upgrades anyway but I can do one this week, the next in like a month or so.
