I live in an apt where there was once an extensive home theater/networking setup. When the first guy who owned this place moved out, he just ripped everything out and cut all the cables.
So where my modem/live cable line is - there's a ton of cut coax.
I bought a new modem and just as I had got everything working with comcast and was moving the modem to it's final place, the f-connector popped off the end.
When that connector pops off, does that render the cable not "live" somehow? I'm pretty sure I know which coax is the comcast cable to outdoors (we're on 5th floor) - but when I just insert the exposed metal portion it doesn't work. Shouldn't I be able to just push the connector back down on the end of the crimped coax?
And now that that didn't work I'm lost in this wireland of cut coax.
I was thinking of going to mircocenter and getting a coax tester thingy... rather than mess with having comcast come out...
