Seems like a silly question, but...I have just built a new system with
two serial HDs which I want to run in Raid 1 configuration.

All goes well until I have to hit F6 at the beginning of the Windows
installation to install the SATA drivers and nothing happens. Have
tried two keyboards, the keyboard lights flash but F6 does nothing.

Am sure this is something stupid I have missed...anyone have any
ideas?

Many thanks,

Max

You presumably know that pressing F6 doesn't do anything immedately -
it sets a flag so that you are given a prompt to insert a disk with
your drivers a little later in the preboot process.

Oh Peter, no I didn't realise that - I assumed it would immediately
switch to another screen. Thank you!

Hi,

F Lock Key? Don't forget to press it.
USB Keyboard? Try an ordinary one.

OK then :) Were you being sarcastic?

It is also said "Push it early and push it often"

Leave the floppy in the drive too - sometimes it is needed twice.

No, no, NO Tim, was not being sarcastic - sorry if you read it that
way! When I trusted that the command had been received and let it
proceed with the installation all was well - it came up with the
required process for installing the drivers.

Curious though, never struck that delayed response before in any
installation...

Thanks again,

Max

Not to worry, I did include a :), not a :| (smiley for people with botox).

So long as it works... so many have trouble with this which is not
surprising.
Oh for the day when bios, drivers etc come with the mobo on a usb flash
disk, you plug it in during boot and everything else is automatic. Should I
patent that, or has that been done already?
