Question Facebook attachments not available ?

For 3 days now, every link I share or is shared to me, says "attachment unavailable".

After a few hours, the error turns into an image from what was linked but the link vanishes and is just plain text.

Even stuff I've shared before is now showing "attachment unavailable".

Happens on my PC, and my phone. Only thing I changed was I did a factory reset on my phone and reinstalled the software, which I can't see being the cause.

Posted in the Facebook reddit but 0 responses. Driving me nuts because I'm looking at used cars for sale and can no longer share the links. Any ideas?

Do any family or friends see the same problem when they try to view and/orshare the links?

Or if you use some other computer or phone?

If you did a factory reset/ software reinstall then it is likely that some configuration setting or path reverted to a default value.

Hopefully you have just forgotten or overlooked a required change.

Double check the path to the target links and the location of the "attachment unavailable" image files.

How have you been sharing the links? Copy/Paste? Copy Image Address? Manually creating a link?

Where are the images/links being stored? Online storage?

What is interesting is:

Try to find a specifc time measurement vs "After a few hours". Knowing if there is a constant measurement value (if there is) may help troubleshoot the problem.

Are you able to post any of the problem links without revealing any personal information?

Funny you should ask, last night my nephew had no idea what I was talking about because although my end says unavailable, on his end it works fine.

Software uninstall/reinstall would only reset app settings, not Facebook/Messenger settings so not likelt the cause, plus again, happens on my PC as well.

Sharing wise, seems to be Marketplace specific. When I go into an ad, click Share and Send in Messenger, or if I click Share and Copy Link, or I copy/paste the link.

Weird... and of course Facebook support doesn't exist, and I wish Facebook had a settings reset option. I went through "solutions" online but none of them were relevant.

Did that include reinstalling Facebook Messenger?

Yes or no - either way, there may have been some interim update that was missed.

Well, Factory Reset wipes out all software so yes, all app were reinstalled.

That said, the app settings on my phone would not affect the settings on my PC. If I were to uninstall Messenger off my phone and leave it off, my PC would still work. The only settings it affects are app settings... like use location, show alerts, etc. settings like privacy, friends, etc are account settings.

It's the web version, not an app on the PC.
