facebook virus spam malware

hi,

just need to ask a question concerning facebook:
a friend of mine has a page and only certain people can join if they are invited.
this friend removed one user because he/she said "he/she had a virus"
i cannot understand this,
possibly the virus was in a message????

That doesn't make sense. Any virus could not infect others, if you didn't click any of his/her links.
