So i just bought a new ssd and have a hard drive with windows 10 on it that i want to wipe completely. What would be the process I would need to follow to factory reset my hard drive and install windows on the ssd instead?

Solution
Disconnect the HDD
Install the OS on the SSD
Get it all running
Later, reconnect the HDD and delete ALL partitions on it.

What size/make/model SSD is this?

As long as the SSD is before the HDD in the BIOS boot order, it will boot from the SSD.
Whatever is on the HDD does not matter.
But be sure you do have the HDD physically disconnected when you install on the SSD.
