Hi all,

I need to restore my notebook (acer aspire VN7-791) to factory settings due to an annoyingly slow windows. But the restore process fails, with error code 225.

MY DVD-drive appears to be broken (Which is not a problem because I never use it), and from what I understand that shouldn't impact the restoration - or does it? All the files and stuff for the restore are on a hidden partition anyway, I'm not sure though if that hidden partition is bootable... Then again, as far as I recall I didn't get any CDs/DVDs with the notebook back when I bought it anyway...

Can I do something about this? Any help would be really appreciated :)

You have USB ports on the laptop you're having issues with. What's stopping you from creating a bootable USB installer using Windows Media Creation Tools which you can use to reinstall your OS with the latest ISO/revision of the OS...? Prior to the reinstall, always backup your critical data onto a removable storage device. Lastly, make sure you're on the latest BIOS for your laptop.
