factory vs. crafting

I'm considering buying a factory. Do factories generate crafting xp?

I mean, if I use my general crafting device to grind out 100 things, I might
get, say 200 xp per craft. That's like a total of 20,000 crafting xp.

Does a factory work the same way? If I let a factory generate 100 things,
will I get a fraction of this crafting xp? If not crafting xp, do factory
runs produce any xp?

thanks,

I don't think you get any crafting xp. If you do, it is so little it
might as well be nothing. I once ran a structural factory processing
through about 40k ore making structual mods. and didn't notice any xp.

You're right. You gain no XP from factories. They're just rather convenient.

To get XP from a Factory you must be logged in, not AFK, and within
500m (I could be wrong on the distance) from the factory. Otherwise
you get nothing.

Oh and I forgot, you only get 10% of the XP you would get if you crafted by hand.

I have been told that you get like 5% of the XP that you would gain
from normal crafting from a factory but you have to be right beside it
to get the XP..... but I never tried this out.

And required for some items that require components.
