I just put together a new rig about a month ago and have just started to Overclock it. I really wish I had done this a month ago, because when I ran Prime95 on STOCK voltages and speeds it failed the blend test.

Thus far I have successfully ran memtest 86+ and Prime95 small FFTs with no errors. When I run Prime95 large FFT or the Blend tests it fails within 10 minutes.

My memory is set to the factory stock speeds and timings via the bios.

Also, I am hitting 54 degrees C on Prime95 small FFT tests. This is also on stock voltages and speeds, should I try to refit my heatsink and reapply my thermal paste?

Specs:

AMD Phenom II 955 x4 BE
MSI 790FX-GD70
4GB (2x2GB) OCZ AM3 Edition DDR3 1600 7-7-7-24
Corsair 750w PSU
Sapphire VaporX HD4890 950/1100
Cooler Master Storm Scout case
Cooler Master V8 CPU Cooler

I ran OCCT Linpack with 90% memory usage and it said there was an error detected after 100 minutes, i set it to run for 120 minutes. It didn't specify what the error was, and the graphs provided seemed to be consistant with 54 degrees C being the max heat generated by each core.

Im at a loss here people :(

How many passes did you let Memtest86+ complete? I've seen RAM run fine for 6 passes and then start throwing errors. You said you manually set the RAM speed and timings. Did you also manually set the RAM voltage to 1.65v?

1. Never use Large FFT as a measure of stability. It is prone to crashes for no reason.

2. Blend test, is quite affected by any thing else that's running in the background such as AV programs, etc.

3. If you passed P95 Small FFT and Memtest86+ for more than 6-7 hours chances are you'll be fine.

Yes but on the other hand, if he can't be stable at those parameters i would suggest test the psu and maybe even look into a faulty cpu, does your system hang or bsod at all? I've ran into a bad cpu before and it couldnt run stable for crap.
