Failed OC. Is my CPU dead?

Attempted an overclock of my i5 3570K. On a Z77M D3H motherboard (which I found doesn't allow voltage control). OC worked, managed a 4.2GHz with good temps (never went above 60 degrees during stress tests). Played some games on it, left it last night, turned it on this morning and it wouldn't boot. Reset the BIOS by unplugging the mobo's battery, it booted to the Starting Windows screen, then it stalled and a blue screen flashed for a fraction of a second. Tried to use window's auto repair, I restored it to an earlier state, nothing has worked. I assume the CPU's dead. Or at least a vegetable (I could still load the BIOS and obviously could access some windows features). It just won't boot.

Any ideas?

No joy. Took it all apart and put it all back together and i'm still at square one.
