Hi everyone, my Hitachi 2TB drive failed. During file transfer it crashed and disappeared. sata will not see it, only my usb docking station shows it as read only drive.

Diskpart (in admin) can see it, but will not touch it.
Acronis can see it as 29.30 TB offline uninitialized [will not touch it],
Disk management can see it as removable 20000.42 GB online, with two partitions.
One is 2048.00 GB unallocated, second is 27951. 42 GB unallocated, [will not touch it].
Device manager can see it as usb device.

When I plug it in, Windows asks to format the drive, but fails to show size, subsequently it reports I/O error if I press ok to format. If I select it in my computer it asks to insert a disk into removable drive.

At this point I seem to have no chance to recover files, but getting the drive back would be nice.
Can this be fixed or can I say good bye to it?
Any help is appreciated

I have had this happen to me before, and sadly I just had to format the drive, which was then riddled with errors (your situation could be different) and then I just threw it away. Reformat the drive, sadly any data on it is likely gone and see if the drive is even usable anymore, but after a drive has become compromised like this I usually try to warranty it, or i just open em smash up the disc and recycle them.

I tried formatting, nothing will touch it. I wondered if re-flashing the drive can help, that is my next attempt. Hitachi seems to have update for it. finally I need to find a way not to see it as read only drive.
