I have tried installing windows Xp and failed .

I am not sure whether my laptop has a recovery partition or not. Does this recovery partition comes with acer laptop by default or do I need to create it.

Please help.

Most Acers have a recovery partition, you'll have to check your manual or check your model online, the information is pretty easy to find. Usually just one of the function keys when you switch on.

If you can't use the restore partition and have to install a clean Win 7 you may need to pop into the BIOS and change the setting for the disk controller from AHCI/SATA to IDE/Legacy for the install (unless you have the drivers ready and downloaded onto a USB stick).
