Hi ppl,

My sisters laptop has been crashing recently (not blue screen but turns off, reboots randomly then "cant detect boot disk"

Straight away i thought: either HDD is not sat right in the laptop or the SSD is failing.

I couldnt even get it on long enough to get HD tune installed.

- Removed hard drive and it opened fine on my PC HOWEVER i tried backing it up manually (windows copy paste as a test) and after about 100mb of moving it droped from 30mb/sec to 0mb/sec and just stopped working...

SoOOooo.

Installed HD tune and got the following issues:

(05) Retired block count. Current&worst 100, Thresh 10, data 8192: attention
(C5) Reallocated Event Count, 100,100,1,Data: 2, WARNING

Now I'm at a loss to my next step.. any advice would be great. I really cant back her stuff up as the drive just stops copying...

I guess i could try 100mb/time and keep going till core stuff is saved,,!

Solution
It's nearly dead. No way you copy all data without special procedures/equipment. Go to guys who restore HDDs if data is important, it's not cheap.

Otherwise do the "I guess i could try 100mb/time and keep going till core stuff is saved,,!" part.
