Failing HDD on Sony Vaio PCG-TR3A!

HI, I have a Sony Vaio PCG-TR3A (2002) with 40GB HDD, 512 MB DDR SDRAM. My HDD Rescently Crashed and is not available in any os install cds, whether it be Windows or Linux Based. I was wondering any solutions for this? (I don't have the $$$$$$ for a new pc) Any useful info or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What do you mean it is not available? Is it seen in your bios?

A PC that old, should be able to get a HDD off eBay for peanuts. 12 years is a good run for the HDD before it died.

yes, but older pcs' bios list the drive controllers installed, they don't search for connected drives

hi, what exactly you want? i own one of this, and it's still working i don't use it for work, because i have another 2 computers (dell latitude e6400 and dell latitude e6420) but for watching my baby's cam monitor. 😉
