Failing to upgrade from 8gb to 16gb

Hi Guys,
I'm trying to upgrade RAM from 8gb to 16gb. However, when I inserted the 16gb (same make and brand as the 8gb), it doesn't work.

I have an:

AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHZ cpu,
MSI 790GX-G65 Motherboard,
Kingston HyperX Perf. 1600 mhz DDR3 4X4gb

What am I doing wrong?

Kindly explain your exact problem. What it happens when you use all 4 memory in the slots?

Do they show in BIOS? Which OS you are using? Make sure that you are using only Win 7 64bit.
 
Three things, if you're actually running the memory frequency at DDR3-1600 with any Phenom then you'll need to either increase the FSB -> 240MHz or CPU-NB Frequency -> 2400MHz and manually set the CAS timings, DRAM Voltage and if needed the CPU-NB Voltage. In addition, often using 4xDIMM slots requires a slight DRAM Voltage and sometimes CPU-NB Voltage increase. Lastly, often on AMD I find 4GB/stick densities require a BIOS update to function properly.

I talked to service reps from Kingston, and they said the same things you guys are saying. I need to update my bios, and I'll probably have to overclock if I want to use this RAM. I'm figuring out whether I really want to do that to my cpu or not. Also, installing the new bios is a hassle. You have to do it via flash drive.

Thanks guys. I finally figured out how to flash bios, and was able add the RAM one module at a time (Kingston HyperX Perf. 1600 mhz DDR3) until I got the full 16GB. The BIOS only reads the RAM at 1333 mhz. The only way I'd be able to get the full 1600 mhz speed would be to overclock, but I don't play games, and the speed with the current 1333 is awesome. Thanks for all the input, it was very helpful.
