I tried to reinstall WinMe and somehow it would not boot up after it finished copying files to the hard disk (the next steps are installing drivers and extra stuff). Can anyone point out my mistake? Thanks!

That's why I install DOS first and then WinMe as I've said in the last thread.

I try to smile everyday but I can't...

I take it you are installing onto a claen HDD? if not i suggest you use FDISK to remove the DOS partition then to re-create it.

Boot from the WinME disc and install from there, the installer will format and check your disk for errors.

Good luck

(oh and make sure you back any files!!)

Yes, I did the FDISK and format. I think the reason is that I used Win98 CD to format the drive and install WinME after that. In other words, I never used the WinME startup disk during the installation. Would that be the problem?

No, it never crashed or freezed. It just wouldn't boot up to Windows....that's all!

I actually fixed the problem by installing DOS first and then WinME as I mention in the original post...But, I just want to save some time for the next reinstallation.
