Fake 1050 ti...?

Hello, Just want to know what other people think of this.... I got this so called 1050 ti on Geek (Powered by Wish) for $60...

I believe it fake as it doesnt even work....

It definitely looks fake, especially with the "Graphic Card" and especially if you were told that this was not an aftermarket brand

It has to be fake for that price. Most likely it will be using an older, far weaker GPU, that has been altered to trick your computer into thinking it's a 1050 ti.....see it all the time with these type of fakes.

have you tried to plug it in to see how it is recognized as?

25% Lifespan? What sort of spec the F is that? DircEct X II? PCE 3.0? No clearly identifiable manufacturer and model name/number on the front of the box? lol.

Yup, doesn't look like any sort of packaging that would come from a legit manufacturer, too many errors, too much missing essential info.

From the first photo, I see the SLI bridge on the top of the cad. The 1050TI doesn't support SLI so it's not that. I suspect an older Asus card, I know they made some "formula 1" cards, that looks like some sort of batman card?

If the price is too good to be true, then it likely is just that....too good to be true.

Looks like one of those Vamery cards that rolled around eBay for a long while. Usually it was an older GT 5xx or 6xx card spoofed to come up as a 750ti (or in this case 1050ti).

Is that a VGA (D-SUB) port on the back? And there seems to be an SLI bridge connector, neither of which a 1050 Ti should have. If it were something like a GTX 960 that wouldn't necessarily be bad, if it worked.

I'm guessing the OP is the seller on ebay I got this card from. At the price it was selling my curiosity got the better of me (just so nobody flames him he listed it as a counterfeit unknown card).
The chip is a 500 series.



From all indications it's a GF116-400-A1, GTX 550ti. If you look closely, straight down from the P in PAT and a hair to the left you'll see the top of the G and a bit of the F from the GF116 model number. Why they bothered to rub it off is curious. Anyone who would know enough to check the model numbers would also be able to see the difference between a 500 series and a 1000 series chip.

The board has 1GB Hynix GDDR5. Which was typical of the average 550 ti.



The reason it's dead is, I suspect, probably from one of the Mosfet's. From this picture you can tell it looks like one got very hot. (Note the purple circle on the silicone pad)



The curious thing about it all is that the original seller (the one the OP got it from), sold it for only $60 which is almost the average selling price of a GTX 550 ti ($49.99). Why go through the trouble of trying to pass one off as a 1050ti if you're only going to sell it at the 550ti price. Semi honest criminal? Confusing.

FYI if the card that The Paladin posted is the exact same card, then the listing is bogus too, (why they would fake a 730 being a 550ti is confusing too.) The 730 chip looks like this.

Maybe they just used the cooler from the 730? I was going to scream about bumping an old thread, but thanks for the feedback. Interesting stuff all the way around.
