Fallout 4 acting dropping (not crashing), just minimizing to desktop....

I decided to dust of fallout 4 and finish my survival mode play-through. However, every now and then, the game is minimizing to the desktop. This is not a huge deal as it only happens once every hour or two and the game automatically pauses when it does so I don't die or anything. I'm just damn curious as to why.

I have had no problems with any other game. Everything runs smoothly and without error, so I'm thinking that it is a problem with Fallout 4. Here are my components and the OC's:

i7 6700k (4.6 @ 1.23v, it can go to 5.0, but I like it cool, normally in the 50's under load)
Corsair H110i
Asus ROG Hero Alpha
16 gb G Skill Trident Z 3200 (2 x 8gb, operating at 3200)
Strix ROG GTX 1080 (2126 Ghz, 11010 on Mem)
Roswill 1000 Watt psu
A few SSD's of varying sizes
A lot of fans and a big case for cooling (temps seems very stable in my rig: Front 2 x 200, bottom 2 x 120, back 1 x 120, top 2 x 200 + 2 x 140 from radiator)

What do you guys think could be the cause of Fallout 4 minimizing?

Thanks,

Adam

Crazy colors reminds me of trying to run Starcraft on Windows 7 (before they made it work correctly). It'd run fine for a while, and then the color palettes would just...swap around. Red would be green, green purple, purple black, etc. It'd all still look right, like the graphics were still perfectly recognizable, but the colors would be entirely wrong.

Maybe try reinstalling your GPU driver using DDU?
Are you running two monitors? It could be that for some reason FO4 isn't restricting your mouse to the main screen, and every once in a while you wind up clicking on the other screen, which deselects FO4 as the active window and causes it to minimize; during the resolution flicker that comes with minimizing a fullscreen game, your mouse gets centered on the main screen, meaning you never actually see that your mouse was out of position. If you do have two screens, try disconnecting the second one and see if the issue goes away. If it does, look into a program like Dual Monitor Tools (which includes a hotkey-controlled function to lock your cursor to one screen).

Thanks for the advice... Right now I am running a single monitor. I think some program is causing it to minimize, along the lines of what you suggested, but a program on windows... Strange thing is, it only does it in Fallout, not other games... And it does it so infrequently... I played for about 2 hours today and it didn't do it once...

I did notice something strange though... Occasionally I get some strange psychedelic colors that I know aren't part of the commonwealth! I wonder if something is amiss with my graphic drivers... Perhaps one of the updates Nvidia put out is not agreeing with Fallout... The crazy color doesn't happen often, but I do notice it every now and then because it stands out... Makes me think my 1080 is not playing nice with Fallout! :)

Reinstalling drivers seems to have been the solution. Since then, I haven't seen any corrupted colors and it hasn't minimized. I'm guessing that maybe last time I uploaded drivers something was lost in translations. I think Fallout just happened to be the game I was playing at the time and I might have seen some problems on other games in the future...

Regardless, we can declare this one solved! Thanks! :)
