Fallout 4 is going to be a resource hog?

Someone on reddit said that Fallout 4 is going to be huge resource hog (like battlefield 4 and crysis 3) and only the fastest computer hardware available can max the game out with a steady 60fps.

Do you think this is true?

I heard you need 4 GTX Titan X GPUs to break 30 FPS at 1080p. Batmam Arkham Knight in it's current release state is more optimized now than Fallout 4 will be.

Come on, it's too early to say how resource intensive Fallout 4 will be. While it is likely that Fallout 4 will not be fully optimized on release, it will improve over time. I just hope Fallout 4 not will be nowhere near the sorry state Batman Arkham Knight is currently in when the game is released in November.

Developers don't make games for only the wealthy. Most people playing aren't going to spend $300 on a new GPU. The game is DX11, and an HD 5850 is only a couple of years old. It will be possible. Will you have to dial down the eye candy? It's likely. Video cards aren't making the leaps and bounds that they were years ago and to reiterate that fact look how they keep re-badging cards. An HD 5850 is no slouch and can run about any DX11 game today. The HD 6000 series was actually weaker due to a new naming scheme, but runs the same games. That said, if you have an HD 7790 you're doing good. Fallout was started before the HD 7000 series cards were even released, so it's likely they will run on an HD 5000 series card.

The initial release date of the series has nothing to do with how a new game will run on current hardware.
Given current market and developer trends, it is not looking good for low end hardware.

Once again, it is pointless to guess around until the game is out and benchmarked.

An HD 5850 isn't really low end. It's upper low end at this point. Use passmark. DirectX 12 should shake things up quite a bit and I'm looking forward to it - currently I own around 9 gaming PCs, 5 of which I think are DX12 ready now.

I agree with your last statement, however, I disagree (at least in part) with your first. Let me clarify your lack of reading comprehension by saying that I never mentioned the release date of the series. I'll post the exact quote here again so you can re-read.

"Fallout was started before the HD 7000 series cards were even released, so it's likely they will run on an HD 5000 series card."

Software has to be written and tested using existing hardware. Modern cards were being crafted in hushed rooms. Therefore, one could surmise that Fallout 4 will likely at least run on cards a few years old - it's not likely that it will run at highest detail. Even Crysis could run on low end hardware, it just did so at unplayable frames.
