I am running this system ... http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/335783/Lenovo-H535-57324741-Desktop-Computer-With/
Stock at the moment. I think the build of my specific tower is a little different as I remember the max ram being 16Gb, but otherwise these are the specs, oh and its running on Windows 10 64 bit now.

I want to run fallout 4. I have a decent 500w power supply to upgrade to already. I'm looking to just run the game, I'm good with lowest settings across the board for now if it gets me playing.

I know I need a graphics card, as the on board wont manage much more than running WoW on medium-high settings.

Will fallout 4 load at all on a system that doesn't meet the minimum requirements?

And if not what is the lowest end graphics card I could grab to at least get playing?

If you have 6GB of RAM you may not need to put any money into that. Most gaming builds recommend 8GB but Fallout 4 doesn't seem to use a lot of RAM. HWInfo shows that my system typically hovers around 4GB of RAM usage when I'm playing Fallout 4.

If your main concern is Fallout 4 I would put the money you had planned for RAM into increasing the GPU budget a little.

Edit: For just over $100 it looks like the best you are going to do is a GTX 750Ti. That will run Fallout 4.
Fallout 4 will use multi-core CPU and GPU pretty effectively. It prefers an NVidia GPU (It's a gameworks title).

For a good experience, the lowest I'd suggest is an FX 6300 or 6350 with a GTX 960. 6350 has a decent stock cooler and is a little faster than the 6300, which will need something like a Hyper 212 EVO (6300 stock cooler is terrible). Both CPUs will work best on a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P motherboard and with DDR3 1866 RAM, thought low latency (CAS 7 or 8) DDR3 1600 will be fine for gaming.

500-550w PSU should be fine as long as you don't go crazy with your overclock.

Thanks for the advice. I'll look into those card options. Trying to weigh the options of either upgrading my PC to play it or just stashing a little more cash and buying the xbox one bundle with fallout 4. I prefer playing via computer but cost wise I might be better off with the console. Might be easier to talk the wife into, can say its for the kids, lol.

Wow. I've been playing Fallout 4 a ton since it came out and I didn't even realize it was a Nvida Gameworks title until I just read your post. It doesn't have the "Nvidia, The Way it's Meant to be Played" screen and I haven't seen the typical Nvidia settings like Physx. I just did a quick google search and you are correct though.

Minimal. I was going to upgrade the ram first. as that's a cheap fix.

I was hoping to keep the video card under $100.
