I am very new to this and I don't understand to well, but I was trying to clean out the CPU cooler and what I figured out was called the heat sink and the actually fan part, came apart. I have no idea how to fix this but some help would be nice. I believe I have a AMD FX-8320 CPU and it came with the fan (I had a prebuilt computer).

Solution
The fan clips go each side of the cooler not top & bottom

You mean your fan cooler's "heat-sink" part and the "fan part" split up.

there are some screws keeping the "Metal-Plate" and fan together and if they came apart then re-screw the "Metal-Plate" and Fan-part. if possible please post a picture for further assistance.

thanks for reading my answer, hope it helps (sorry for my bad english)

As soon as I get home I'll take a picture, but the above comment is what it is, the two split up. I have these two metal parts (I don't know how to describe them) I'm just not sure where they go.

can you please post a image from different angle, so that i can spot the screws to connect the fan and the heatsink

Thanks so much, I feel like an idiot, as soon as I tried on the side it hooked on so perfect. Thank you so much I feel so stupid about this. And yes I do know about thermal paste, I'm picking some up later.
