Question Fan issue on RTX 2070 Super ?

Hi there,

When I'm gaming, the video card fans turn on at 100% for no reason for like 10 seconds. It also seems to run much faster than if I set the fans to 100% myself.

This often takes 10 seconds, after which it falls back to the set fan curve. This sometimes happens several times in a row. Software wise I have tried everything. Used various software to set up the fan curve to force it to calm down, but without success. I have a constant view on the temperature on my second monitor. strangly enough This peak in fan speed is not reflected in the graph in any way. Besides, The temperature of the video card does not exceed 80 degrees, even with heavy games and the performance ingame is totally fine.

Somehow it doesn't happen when I set the fps to 72 fps (144 hertz monitor) in nvidia settings. All drivers updated, no bottlenecking in the system in terms of hardware.

Could this be a hardware problem or am i missing something?

Please help me, because its only 1,5 years old and i'm not ready to invest again. Last note: the problems started about 6 months ago, so its not a DOA .

Thank you for responding.

i've deleted the driver and re-installed it, kept it up to date every time. I've tried just setting the fan to 75% and still it happens Same at 80% and 90% static fan speed

Install the MSI Afterburner and run the MSI Afterburner OC Scanner and post the results here.
20:43:09 Connected to MSI Afterburner control interface v2.3
20:46:53 GPU1 : VEN_10DE&DEV_1E84&SUBSYS_400D1458&REV_A1&BUS_38&DEV_0&FN_0
20:46:53 Start scanning, please wait a few minutes
20:59:06 Scan succeeded, average core overclock is 27MHz, memory overclock is 200MHz
20:59:06 Dominant limiter
20:59:06 No load
20:59:06 Results are considered unstable

Post a screenshot of the temperature graph when the problem occurs.

Post a screenshot of the temperature graph when the problem occurs.
I would do that but the thing is that:
A: i cant predict when its happening and
B: The stupid problem does not show on any curves.. not afterburner, not Argus monitor nada. The temp does not raise, nor do the cores. Anything else i can show you ?

Well, in that case you only got two options:
1) Install the GPU in another system and see if the problem persists
or
2) If still in warranty, I suggest you send it in for diagnostics and repair
