Fan makes horrible noise at high rpm

When one of my radiator fans goes over 1680 rpm it makes a horrible sound, almost as if the fan bearing is going or something, should i buy a new fan or is there a fix?

Sounds like a bad fan bearing like you stated , should be replaced.

You could take it apart and spray a bit of q20 in there to lube the bearing, would probably be best to just replace the fan.

How does a bearing get damaged constantly spinning up and down rpms?

It works out the grease and then its pretty much downhill from there.

ive only had this fan for a few weeks, expected more from corsair but oh well

If you've only had it for a few weeks it was probably faulty, you should still be able to get a warranty replacement. Corsair makes some of the best fans out there and they have great customer service. You should probably be able to get it replaced quite easily.

IVE NOTICED THE SOUND IS ONLY WITHIN A CERTAIN RPM RANGE, I JUST HAD IT ON AT 2000 RPM AND THE NOISE DIDNT OCCUR

im not even sure if i could consider it rattling maybe its more of a grinding noise? im not too sure, should i just try a new fan and see how it goes, i wanted some sp120s for my rad anyways

If you do plan on swopping out the fans consider Noctua, I have no personal experience with them but I have heard they are absolutely awesome.

i got a full black and yer setup sp120's would look BOSS, but that thing about only within a certain rpm range, is that wierd at all?

Honestly no clue mate, just in the last couple of days one fan makes a wierd rattling/grinding/scratching sound, when i go above 1680 rpm, but at 2000rpm it doesnt make the noise.... i just assumed it was the bearing only thing i can think of no wires obstructing it or anything
