I just bought a second hand desktop computer. I plugged it into one of power outlets and it started making rattling noises. I removed it from there and plugged it into a different outlet and the noise stopped. I then plugged it into the first outlet and the noise resumed. What could be the problem? Please help.

Hi there Remmoy,

Are you sure it's the fan that is making the noise?
Anyway, my suggestion would be not to use that outlet, so you don't damage your PC's components. There's something wrong with it and you can either use a different one or get it checked by a professional.

Yeah I used to have a rattling fan and wall outlets didn't matter. If you find it really is your fan, (I found my case panel was caving in causing unintended contact) I'd try reinstalling it and poking around in the case.

But it's likely NOT your fan as stated above.
