[SOLVED] Fan Noise

There are five fans in my PC (GPU-2, CPU-1, PSU, and Case). One of them is making a knocking noise. How do I figure out which one is the culprit?

Open the case, stop the fan with your hand, no it will not hurt, if the sound ends, bingo.

You can stop case fans manually with a finger tip to see if the noise disappears.

Old car mechanic trick: use something like the cardboard axle of a paper towel or toilet paper roll to act as a megaphone to locate and intensify the noise...one end at your ear and the other end right up against the fan to be tested.

You can use the blade of a screwdriver for the same megaphone effect, with your thumb over the end of the screwdriver handle and your thumb up tight against your ear. You should be able to hear bearing noise.

I never imagined that it would be so simple, but that actually worked. It even help me find two more tower fans that I didn't even know I had that were shrouded in dust. Now, I've just got to figure out why the fans on my GPU weren't turning. Possibly because I wasn't doing anything graphics intensive at the time.

Start a game, GPU fans start to work only after GPU intensive game.
